Kalahuipua'a Historic Park: Preserving the Past for the Future
Listen to audio sample:
The Kalahuipua’a Historic Park on the Big Island has a wonderful concentration of ancient sites. There is no admission, and it has ample bathroom facilities.
Many would say the highlight of this location is the large cave that was used as a shelter by the ancient Hawaiians. The multiple openings were ideal for ventilation, while the spacious floor was perfect for laying down mats and working, cooking and eating. It’s open for people to walk into, and imagine what it was like in ancient times!
