The best time to visit Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills is typically from late spring to early fall, specifically between May and September.

During these months, the weather is generally pleasant, with warm temperatures ideal for exploring the outdoor attractions - this is also peak season for travel to Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills.

Spring

Spring offers mild temperatures and fewer crowds. The landscape comes alive with blooming wildflowers, and wildlife is more active. It's an excellent time for hiking and scenic drives.

Summer

Summer is the peak tourist season, with warm, sunny days perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities. All attractions and facilities are fully operational.

However, expect larger crowds and higher accommodation prices. Visiting during the early morning or late afternoon can help avoid the busiest times.

Fall

Fall is another great time to visit, with cooler temperatures and stunning autumn foliage. Crowds thin out after Labor Day, providing a more tranquil experience.

Winter

Winter sees fewer visitors, offering a unique experience. However, many attractions and roads may be closed due to snow and cold weather.
