At Shaka Guide, one of our favorite things about April is National Park Week.
Since 1994, National Park Week has been an annual celebration of our nation’s natural and cultural heritage. Did you know…the National Park Service manages over 400 parks? Besides ‘National Parks,’ the NPS also preserves seashores, historical sites, battlefields, and more.
National Park Week 2025 runs from April 19th to the 27th.For nine days, parks host programs to encourage tourism and educate visitors about these treasured places.
Here are a few tips:
- On April 19, the first day of National Park Week, admission to all NPS sites is free!
- Use this helpful NPS page to find what national parks are close to home.
- Parks might be busy. We can help out by following the Leave No Trace guidelines, like throwing away our trash and leaving natural objects where we find them.
