Here’s a quick update about Kīlauea and Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.

Living here in Hawaiʻi, it feels like almost every week I’m seeing Kīlauea pop up in the local news. If you’ve been following along too, you may have noticed reports of recent volcanic activity and eruptions within the park.

Kīlauea is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, and this kind of activity is part of its natural cycle. Park officials are closely monitoring conditions, and access to the park is adjusted as needed to keep visitors safe. Some areas may be temporarily closed, while others remain open and just as awe-inspiring as ever.

If you’re planning a visit, I recommend staying flexible and letting park updates guide your day. I highly encourage checking the official NPS page (linked above) both leading up to and on the day of your visit. I also recommend stopping by the Visitor Center (our tour brings you there) and taking a few minutes to speak with the rangers or staff—they always have the most up-to-date information. Volcanic conditions can change quickly, but that’s also what makes this place so special. There’s something incredibly humbling about witnessing a living, breathing landscape in real time.
