Saved by Shaka

Arrived on Oahu in January 2021 during COVID restrictions. I always take in-person walking tours wherever I travel in the world. I’ve taken guided kayak tours of the canals of Venice. Walked with an historian on the battlefields of Gettysburg. But there were no in-person tours available in Oahu because of the pandemic. I reluctantly purchased the Shaka app. I find most of these canned tours lightweight, hard to follow, corny and a waste of time. Man was I wrong—at least about Shaka Guides. What a great resource. What a great time. We took great walking tours in Waikiki and the historic district. And amazing driving tours of the North Shore and a rainforest. The turn-by-turn GPS directions were spot on. Especially loved the Hawaiian music played between the sights. Buy this app —you’ll be very appy. *happy.
