How to Purchase a Shaka Guide Tour
Aloha and thank you for downloading the Shaka Guide app. Please watch the video below to learn how to purchase and download a Shaka Guide tour.
1) Select a Tour from the 'Tour' Tab
This is the ‘tours’ tab of our app. This is the main screen where you’ll find all of our available walking and driving tours for this island.
Beneath the list of tours are some basic tips on how the app works (where you might’ve found this video) as well as some trip planning information.
Go ahead and browse through the list of tours and select the one you’re interested in taking or buy the bundle to get all the tours for a discounted price (see more under select a purchase option)! After selecting a tour, you’ll go through a three-part navigation to watch the preview video, check out the tour map, and view the purchase options.
2) Select a Purchase Option
When you make a purchase, you have two options to choose from, the first option is to purchase this tour individually, the other is to purchase the tour bundle. The bundle includes all the tours available for the island at an extremely discounted price (over 50% off).
The bundle is the best option if you'll be traveling for multiple days or want to explore the whole island, including remote parts you might not otherwise explore.
3) Wait for the Download to be 100% Completed
Once you’ve purchased a tour, the app will take you to the ‘download tab’ where you’ll see a list of all your purchased tours. The reason you have to download the tour is so you can take the tour offline without using your data. This comes in handy when your phone has no signal.
To save storage space on your phone, our app allows you to manually select which tour you want to download first. Select the tour you want to download and then keep the app open until the download is complete. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. If you close the app before the download is complete, the tour might not work properly.
We highly recommend downloading the app over WIFI to ensure a quick and complete download.
When the download is finished, you’ll see the word 'Downloaded' under the tour name. Tap on the tour name to open it. You now have full access to the tour audio and offline map.
If you return to the tours tab, you’ll also notice that any tour you’ve downloaded will have a yellow banner across it that says “DOWNLOADED.”
When you’ve finished a tour, you can delete the tour on your phone to save space. But don’t worry, your purchases are saved to your account so you’ll still have access to it if you plan to use it again in the future.
Tour Q&A and Highlights
Before you take the tour, scroll to the bottom of the screen to check out Tour Q&A where you can learn more about planning your day. Here, you'll also find Tour Highlights -- a collection of local recommendations and fun places to stop along the tour (activities, restuarants, hikes etc...).
When you are ready to take the tour, Tap on ‘take the tour’. Remember your tour does not expire, so feel free to preview the tour to get familiar with the app even if you’re not in the area yet.
If you’re still having trouble with the app, feel free to reach out to our tech support by chatting with us from within the app, or you can send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or if you need immediate help, you can call us at 1-888-250-2261
We hope this video helped you get familiar with the Shaka Guide app. The next video in this series talks about how to use the app when actually taking the tour, click here to learn more.
