The Food Scene of Oahu's North Shore

Listen to audio sample:
Driving towards Oahu’s north shore, you’ll begin to see lots of roadside restaurants, food trucks and fruit stands. Trying out the delicious, or ono, local food as it's said in Hawaiian, is definitely an important part of the experience.
You might have heard of the famous Kahuku shrimp. If you like shrimp, you should give it a try. You won’t be disappointed! In addition, there are also a variety of other foods, like loco moco, BBQ chicken, kalua pork and many others. As for dessert, you can get pies, fresh fruit, acai bowls, shave ice. There are so many places to eat, you can literally eat your way around the island! Although you will see food trucks all along the way, the highest concentration of them are located between Kahuku Town and Haleiwa Town.
It also would be a good idea to stop by some of the souvenir shops along your way to the north shore. Although some people think they are a bit touristy, the good thing about them is that they offer free samples - and clean restrooms.
