Delightful Tours for the Whole Family

We discovered Shaka Guide last year driving around the Big Island of Hawaii. We had 15 people of all ages for a family reunion and bought the bundle. It made exploring the whole island at our own pace so much fun. This summer we realized they also had a California bundle and our three kids all loved listening to Uncle Shaka’s fascinating stories (and corny jokes!) as we drove through Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon. I love that these work without cell service. Before any trip, I’m going to first check if there’s a Shaka tour available. I wish these had existed when I was a kid!

This app is amazing! Directions were impeccable for parking to check out sights, food, and beaches along the Road to Hana. We bought the reverse road to Hana tour, but part of the back road was closed, so we drove the regular route and started the tour at Kipahulu, after we hiked the Pipiwai trail in Haleakala. It picked up immediately where we were located, and it was interesting to learn about the history of the Hawaiian kings and other facts along the drive. Background music was cool, too!
