Over a hundred years ago, Pa'ula'ula boasted a Russian fort complete with armory, barracks and officer’s quarters in the shape of a star with walls 20-feet high and 17-feet wide. Today, the state historic site features the remains of the fort as well as an impressive 8-foot tall statue of Kauai's last king--King Kaumuali'i.
