Two Medicine in Glacier National Park is named for the nearby twins, Upper and Lower Two Medicine Lakes. Local legend suggests the area's name originated from two Blackfoot medicine lodges, sacred spaces where spiritual ceremonies were conducted.
To get to Two Medicine, drive east from West Glacier on U.S. Highway 2. Follow the signs to the Two Medicine entrance, located on the park's southeast side. The drive takes about 1.5 hours from the park's main entrance.
Yes, you can swim in Two Medicine Lake. The water is extremely cold, even in summer, but it’s safe for swimming. Many visitors enjoy the scenic views while taking a dip in the lake.
